More Than Just a Class
When I first started this class, I honestly didn’t know exactly what to expect. I came in with curiosity, a little fear, and a lot of uncertainty about what I could really achieve. At the time, I didn’t even fully know how to explain what I wanted to do or where this journey would take me. But now, looking back, I can confidently say that this experience has been more than just assignments and deadlines, it has been a journey of growth, creativity, courage, and self-discovery.
One of the most beautiful parts of this process has been having Jennifer as a guide through it all. There were moments when I felt confused, overwhelmed, or unsure of myself, but she was always there to help me navigate through it. Having that kind of support made such a difference. It made me feel seen, encouraged, and capable, especially during moments when I doubted my own abilities. Sometimes, all it takes is one person believing in you for you to slowly start believing in yourself too.
As the weeks went on, I began to realize that I was learning so much more than just technical skills. Yes, I learned how to create, how to structure stories, how to work with audio and video, how to use editing tools, and how to bring ideas to life. But beyond that, I learned how to be brave with my voice. I learned how to express myself in ways I never thought I could. I learned how to trust my creativity instead of being afraid of it.
Of course, the journey wasn’t without challenges. One moment that really tested me was during my interview project, when I lost my first set of audio clips. I remember feeling panicked, overwhelmed, and completely unsure of what to do next. In that moment, it felt like everything I had worked on had disappeared. But instead of giving up, I took a breath, regrouped, and did the interview all over again. That experience taught me patience. It taught me problem-solving. It taught me not to panic, but to look for solutions, a lesson I know I will carry with me far beyond this class.
One of the biggest highlights for me, and something I will always be proud of, was having both my audio story and my video story shared. That moment meant more to me than I can fully put into words. To see something I created being recognized and shared was incredibly affirming. It reminded me that my stories matter, that my voice matters, and that I truly do belong in creative spaces. That experience alone gave me a new level of confidence that I will carry with me far beyond this class. This class has also helped me grow as a person, not just as a student. I became more patient with myself. I became more open to learning. I became more willing to take risks and try things even when I wasn’t sure I’d get them perfectly right. It taught me that growth doesn’t always look neat, sometimes it looks like confusion, trial and error, self-doubt, and then, suddenly, clarity.
Creativity now feels like something that lives more naturally inside me. I no longer feel like I need permission to create. I no longer feel like I have to be “perfect” before I start. I’ve learned that the process itself, the messiness, the learning, the experimenting, is where the real magic happens. This reflection vlog holds pieces of that journey. It holds my growth, my fear, my pride, and my joy. It holds what I’ve learned, how I’ve changed, and how this experience has shaped me. This class didn’t just teach me skills, it helped me become a better, braver, more creative version of myself.
And for that, I will always be thankful.
Thank you, Jennifer. Thank you to this class.
And thank you to myself, for not giving up.
